Melchiorgarden has been known as a separate farm since the early eighteenth century. The farm is located 150 meters off the fjorde in the village Norddal. Being one of two local goat-farms, we run the summer mountain farm Herdalssetra cooperatively in the months of July and August, where the goats are out in summer pasture. At Herdalssetra we own a cabin which is available for rent.

In 2010 we built a new barn with room for some two-hundred milk goats. All the milk produced at the farm is used for dairy and the production of the mild soft cheese 'Snøfrisk'. The meat from goat kids to be slaughtered in spring is popular barbecue in summer. We make boiled sausage and cured sausage purely from goat meat. Salted and dried mutton ribs and cured thigh is produced in the period leading up to Christmas and early orders are advised. All skins from goat or kid are tanned, and are popular giftware.

Most of the raspberry crops go to consumer goods, but we also make our own cordial, jam and jelly from this excellent raw material. We continously develop new products based on raspberries and fruit.

We have three double rooms for rent in the farmhouse. Our guests are served a home-made breakfast where the farm's products make up an important part of the meal.

In spring 2011 we started to use a new farm production kitchen including a shop and facilities for visitors. In the shop you will also be able to find goods from other local food producers who are part of 'The Happy End – Norddal'. Cooperating with them, we offer experience activities based on local culture, nature and traditions.
